Children’s futures should not depend on an evaluator’s business relationships. I propose an independently administered queue for assigning qualified custody evaluators, with screening for conflicts of interest, transparent fees, and documented exceptions for specialized expertise or availability. Neither parent nor their attorney should be able to handpick the evaluator. Children’s safety and best interests must come first.
